Story by Christian

I don’t have an exact story of John and I, more of a collection of memories
and sentiments.

I met John at EFLC while I was practicing racquetball. I had just
graduated college and moved back home with my parents. John was so
welcoming in asking if I wanted to play with him and his crew. That was
how I met John; a very unassuming circumstance that led me to meet one of
the most good-hearted individuals I have ever met.

I ended up playing with John and the group (Russ, Don, Heath) for the
better part of a year and had a blast. Was a great group of guys who
accepted a youngin into the mix with no issues. I felt very welcomed and
had a ton of fun. I probably hit John with a racquetball a few too many
times. He always took it like a champ though. I am fairly certain he paid
me back a few times as well. John and Russ would always enjoy my antics on
the court when I was frustrated at myself and I enjoyed being with them.

I moved to Dallas a short time later and kept up with John through texts.
Always asking how I was doing, always wondering what was going on in my
life, never expecting anything in return.

This is what I took from John and try to implement in my life: Jon was
always interested in what was going on in my life and genuinely cared
without expecting anything in return. You just don’t find this in the
world.

Even though I wasn’t with John much before his tragic passing , I miss
him. I am sad he is gone, but am glad he is in a better place.

My heart goes out to John and his family and I know they know how special
of a guy he was.

My apologies for hitting you so many times with a racquetball John, thanks
for being in my life.
